A 91-year-old man who was sitting on a Brooklyn staircase was attacked with a cane in the middle of a robbery in which the alleged thief took the only thing the victim had: $4.
Surveillance video released by New York City Police shows the suspect limping toward the elderly man who is sitting on one of the lower steps of his Midwood residence near East 14th Street and Avenue I around 6:30 am on Monday.
Cops say the suspect demanded cash and the victim handed him $4.
The alleged robber then asked for more cash and hit the victim in the head with the baton he was using. The victim defended himself with his own cane.
The suspect limped to a bus stop in Avenue J and East 16th Streetwhere he boarded an eastbound B6 MTA bus.
The victim, who suffered a headache and a laceration over his eye, was taken to a hospital for treatment and is expected to be fine.
