A patrol team provisionally arrested a 19-year-old suspected bicycle thief early Friday morning (16th) on the Carl-Ulrich Bridge in Offenbach; his accomplice left an apparently stolen bicycle and fled on foot.

At around 3:10 a.m., a local resident reported to the police and stated that he had just witnessed a bicycle theft in the street “Hafeninsel” (30 house numbers). At least four people fled the apartment building’s underground parking lot with obviously stolen bicycles; his e-bike from manufacturer Deville was also among the bikes he brought along. Due to the timely police alert, the 19-year-old was found on a mountain bike as part of the search. His fleeing accomplice left behind a Cannondale bicycle. Officers secured the two bicycles. The communicator’s e-bike was found on Konstanzer Strasse in Frankfurt and returned there.

According to the first investigations, the 19-year-old and at least three other people had access to the underground parking and bicycle storage there. The 19-year-old is now facing criminal proceedings on charges of particularly serious theft.

The police are looking for other witnesses to the theft and ask them to call 069/8098-1234.
