NEW YORK – New York police say they arrested a man who allegedly attempted to rape a woman on the Manhattan subway on New Year’s Day and then fled at a downtown stop when a Good Samaritan intervened, authorities say.
The suspect allegedly followed the 18-year-old to a southbound line 2 train as he left the station at Street 125 just before 10pm on Sunday. The man allegedly exposed her private parts of her and tried to rape her when the subway stopped at 72 Streetbut a good Samaritan intervened and helped the woman into another carriage.

The suspect remained aboard the train until Street 42. Not sure where he went next.
However, law enforcement confirmed on Wednesday that the 23-year-old had been arrested. There are charges pending against him.
The woman went to the hospital for treatment and tests.
