NEW YORK – The man who was arrested on Friday, in relation to the shocking kidnapping attempt captured by a surveillance camera, allegedly struck an officer in the face after his capture, according to a senior New York City Police official.
James McGonagle, 24, of Queens, was arrested Friday night and charged with attempted kidnapping. There was no further information on the second suspect in this act. The man was taken to Brookdale Hospital with multiple cuts to his face, authorities said.
The next morning, while he was still in the hospital, officers fingerprinted McGonagle when he allegedly punched a uniformed man in the face, the senior official said. In addition to the attempted kidnapping charges, McGonagle will face one charge for assaulting an officer.
