Dozens of people saw how arrest teams invaded two houses on Hoofdstraat and Van Speijkstraat in Veghel on Wednesday afternoon. “The whole house was surrounded,” a witness said of one of the raids. The police have arrested two men (22 and 25) who are suspected of involvement in the series of shootings in Oss. One of them was taken from his house in his underpants and blindfolded.
An arrest team showed up at the house on Van Speijkstraat around three o’clock on Wednesday afternoon. Several local residents saw how heavily armed officers surrounded the house and smashed the front door window.
“It was a bit of a shock. I just came home from work when there were vans with all kinds of agents here. There were a lot of them,” says a woman. “They went into the house and took someone with them. Then they were there until about six o’clock in the afternoon.”
Several local residents say they are very surprised that the arrest team invaded that house. The residents wouldn’t hurt a fly. “There lives a couple who have several sons, all of whom no longer live at home. The residents are very nice people, we have never had any problems with them. During the raid, the police took their son, those residents were not even at home,” says a neighbor across the street.
According to another eyewitness, it would also be the son of the residents. “They must be very shocked. They are such nice and quiet people who live there.”
That same afternoon, a raid was also made a little further, in the center of Veghel. The resident was arrested in an upstairs apartment on Main Street. “I suddenly saw a lot of people from my shop on the street. When I went outside, the Special Interventions Service was standing on the sidewalk,” describes a shopkeeper.
Another shopkeeper suddenly saw the arrest team. “It was bizarre and happened very quickly,” he says. “Suddenly there were about fifteen cars here and all men in balaclavas and helmets. They shouted, ‘Police, police!’ In no time there were about fifteen agents inside.”
Not long afterwards, several people saw how the resident was put in a police car. “They took him out in his underpants and blindfolded,” said an eyewitness.
Both shopkeepers say they know the resident. “I used to chat with him. He’s a really good boy. Very friendly and normal.”
