The girl did not report the incident. Because of the incident, the police conducted a so-called stop conversation with De W., says a spokesman for the OM. It is not known whether he was kept under surveillance after that.
On Thursday it turned out that the suspect has 150 different folders with nude images of girls on a computer. This also includes images of the victim who went to the police in 2014, while De W. promised the police to remove it at the time.
In some of the 150 folders found, all with a girl’s name, the police found thousands of images of an individual victim. According to the Public Prosecution Service, De W. approached the victims via social media. Via Snapchat and Instagram, for example, he asked them for nude images. He then threatened to post it online if the girls did not send more images.
De W. is suspected of producing and possessing child pornography, assault, fornication and temptation of (underage) girls to fornication via the internet. This emerged on Thursday during a session in the court in Breda. The suspect was arrested on October 11 and has been detained ever since.
The investigation into the suspect is still ongoing, the spokesman for the OM emphasizes. So far, the identities of several dozen victims have been traced. Eight girls have filed a report. The police and the Public Prosecution Service expect this number to rise considerably. The victims are mostly minors and live all over the country.
In court it turned out that the Public Prosecution Service thinks he has made more than a hundred victims. De W. has made their lives “hell”, the prosecutor said. He will remain in prison for the next three months. Due to the large number of victims, the vice squad of the Zeeland-West Brabant police force, which is conducting the investigation, is being supported by extra detectives.
