The man suspected of killing a woman in the Itapuã neighborhood, in Salvador, on Sunday afternoon (18), had his arrest in the act converted into preventative arrest by the courts after a custody hearing this Tuesday (20). He was identified as Edeelson de Pinho Santana.

The prisoner is still hospitalized and therefore did not present himself for a hearing. Representatives from the Public Ministry and Defense were heard during the procedural act, with audio recording on digital media. The Public Prosecutor’s Office presented an opinion in favor of approving the arrest in flagrante delicto and converting the suspect into preventive detention, to guarantee public order. The Defense spoke orally requesting provisional release with or without the application of precautionary measures other than prison.
