Suspect Injured in Police-Involved Shooting in Brooklyn – NBC New York

NEW YORK – A suspect died Saturday afternoon after being shot by a uniformed officer in Brooklyn, New York Police Chief of Patrol Jeffrey Maddrey said during a news conference hours later.

According to Maddrey’s report, members of the Public Safety Unit police, who were in the Flatbush and Livingston area, stopped a vehicle with multiple occupants at about 7:30 pm because it was committing traffic violations. traffic and because the car was unmarked.

At one point the officers asked the occupants to get out of the car, but the one in front got out and started running, the patrol chief said. One of the officers chased him for at least two or three blocks when the suspect turned and started shooting, police said.

The officer returned fire, striking him in the chest, police said. The suspect died at a local hospital.

The policeman was also transported to the hospital for tinnitus and other injuries.

No further details about the incident and the other occupants of the car were released.

Authorities recovered a firearm.
