Suspect in New York subway shooting says he is innocent NOW

The American who was arrested in April for a shooting in the New York subway system claims to be innocent.

Frank James, 62, was arrested a month ago after a 30-hour manhunt. He is suspected of committing a terrorist act. The man faces a life sentence.

James opened fire in a subway train during the morning rush hour on April 12, according to prosecutors. Just before that, he had put on a gas mask and set off smoke bombs.

Ten people were injured by the bullets and thirteen others were injured in the ensuing panic. There were no deaths.

James fled the crime scene on another subway. He was arrested a day later in the borough of Manhattan.

The police traced the man after his credit card, weapons and the keys of a van were found on the platform. The vehicle was rented in James’ name. The man’s belongings and clothing were in the van.
