Dallas police reported that Keyshawn Evanta Harris, 18, was arrested and charged with the murder of a Lancaster High School graduate and that he had been recruited by the University of Wyoming to play football in the next school year.
17-year-old Evans was attending a party with other Lancaster High School students inside a hotel room at Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Dallas Love Field when someone at the party started shooting.
Evans and one other person were injured. Evans was transferred to a nearby hospital where he died; The second victim, who has not been identified, was reported to be in stable condition earlier in the week.
The district did not confirm whether the second person shot and wounded was also a Lancaster High School student.
Police have not released any motive for the shooting or said how they developed Harris as a suspect in the murder. Harris has not been charged with any other crime.
Wyoming varsity head coach Craig Bohl, who coached Evans ‘father in Tulsa, said he and wide receiver coach Mike Grant will attend Evans’ funeral.
Harris is currently being held in the Dallas County Jail on a $ 500,000 bond.
The victim, identified as Tony Evans Jr. of Lancaster and had just been recruited by the University of Wyoming.
