Suspect hits man in alleged attack on Asian community in NYC – Telemundo New York (47)

NEW YORK – A suspect reportedly struck another man in the face last month in what New York City Police say was another attack on the Asian community.

Authorities say the suspect apparently pushed the victim as she was walking toward his car near Fred Samuel Park in Harlem on February 15. When the 27-year-old man asked the suspect why he pushed him, the suspect made statements against the Asian community and beat the victim, according to police.

The suspect then left the scene and the victim suffered pain and swelling in her face.

No one has been arrested, police said. The incident is the latest in a string of attacks against people of Asian descent in the city and across the country since the pandemic began last year.

Anyone with information about the incident can confidentially call authorities at 1-888-57-PISTA.
