Three federal marshals were shot and wounded this morning during a confrontation in the Bronx. Two suspects were hit by bullets and one of them died during the confrontation.

Officers were executing an arrest warrant against Andre Sterling, who was wanted for allegedly shooting a police officer to death in Massachusetts in late November. The incident happened in a house on Eli Street in the Wakefield sector around 5:30 a.m.

According to authorities, Sterling, 32, was the suspect who died during the confrontation. A second suspect was taken to hospital with gunshot wounds.

For their part, the injured sheriffs were taken to area hospitals, but they are expected to recover.
