Suspect arrested for hitting an NYPD officer with a glass bottle in Brooklyn – Telemundo New York (47)

NEW YORK – Authorities arrested a man in Brooklyn after he allegedly attacked a New City Police officer with a glass bottle, without provocation, the uniformed officer announced.

Authorities released a video from the officer’s body camera showing the incident that occurred on Sunday, July 18 at about 4:51 a.m. on the corner of East 52 Street Y Snyder Avenue. The video shows the moment in which the alleged attacker approaches the policeman and attacks him after exchanging a few words.

According to the police report, the uniformed man had been assigned to this location to address community concerns when the suspect, without provocation, attacked him with the glass bottle.

The officer suffered a laceration to his neck and ear and was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals / Kings County in stable condition.

The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Tyshaun Holloway, was instantly taken into custody and charged with second-degree assault, resisting arrest, among others. According to the authorities, the suspect had been arrested twice in 2016 also for assaulting police officers.
