Suspect (14) of assault Frédérique arraigned on Friday | Inland

The suspect was arrested on Tuesday and is in custody. A detainee may be detained by the police for a maximum of three days. The examining magistrate can then extend the detention by a maximum of two weeks, release the suspect or release it subject to conditions, such as having to wear an ankle bracelet.

The terms for detention are the same for minors, says a spokesperson for the Public Prosecution Service. “But the examining magistrate can take into account that it is a minor.”

The police suspect that it was LGBTI+-related violence. According to Frédérique’s father, she was abused after she refused to answer the question whether she is a boy or girl. A boy is said to have hit her in the face several times. She broke her nose, several teeth and suffered a jaw fracture, according to her father. She had to be treated in hospital.

Frédérique and her father filed a report together on Wednesday afternoon, a spokesperson for her father said.
