Susanne Kellermann on her early years with Fritz Wepper: “Intense jealousy”

When Fritz Wepper (82) and Susanne Kellermann (49) became a couple in 2009, they encountered major public backlash. This even led to the (temporary) separation of the two. Married since 2019, their daughter’s parents now look back on her early years in their book “Only with a Dog am I a Human,” which was published in October. Susanne also says in the book that she first had to deal with a four-legged rival.

For Fritz Wepper it was extremely important that a dog was part of her life. Susanne wanted to do everything to fulfill his wish – even if, as the book makes clear, she is more of a cat person. In 2010, the hunting dog Aron moved in, and Susanne regretted not having contradicted Fritz’s wishes more clearly. It was as if one of Fritz’s friends had moved in.

“These two strong men in one place were sometimes really too much for me. I suddenly had the feeling that I was in a shared apartment: Aron was always with Fritz and I was never alone with him anymore. Whenever Fritz and I sat next to each other or held hands, Aron immediately squeezed in between them. A clear case of severe jealousy!” – with Aron.

But she must have felt something similar when he left her and her daughter, born on December 30, 2011, alone on New Year’s Eve and wanted to drive to the apartment: “I have to be there before the fireworks go off, so that.” Aron is not alone.

Fritz Wepper was also always aware of the special relationship he had with his dog – and how much Susanne accommodated him. Although Aron was initially very important to her, “unfortunately the relationship between her and Aron became increasingly slippery.” Wepper suspected that she turned away from the dog because “Aron didn’t love her as deeply and deeply” as he did. “Jealousy of a pet is not uncommon and occurs most often in dogs,” reports the actor from a study by the University of Bonn. “I praise Sanne all the more for the fact that there was no reason for her to break up.” and that she even married me in 2019. No woman? No dogs? Both are unimaginable for me.”
