Surya Paloh says it will be difficult for Anies to advance in 2024 DKI regional elections

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —

President of the NasDem Party Surya Paloh measure measures Ann Baswedan it will not be easy to make progress in Jakarta Pilkada 2024.

“It may be difficult for him to advance in the DKI regional elections,” Paloh said at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Wednesday (14/8).

Paloh did not reveal what he meant by ‘difficult’, because according to that only Anies could answer that.

Paloh only mentioned that all candidates running in the regional elections must fulfill the terms and conditions in accordance with the law.

“Try asking Mr. Anies who can,” he said.

Meanwhile, when asked about NasDem’s support for Anies in the Jakarta Pilkada, Paloh was still unsure. However, on the other hand, he confirmed that his party would be with the Indonesian Progressive Coalition (KIM) in the Jakarta Pilkada.

In addition, NasDem will also position itself to be in government and support it in the future.

“I think so [NasDem bersama KIM di Pilkada Jakarta] it’s clear,” he said.

PKS, which initially supported Anies as a couple with Sohibul Iman, has sent out a strong signal that it will abandon support for Anies to run for the Jakarta gubernatorial election.

They assessed that Anies had never received support from other parties until the date given, which was 4 August. Even though PKS needs four more seats to nominate candidates for governor.

Other parties that had shown support, namely NasDem and PKB, have not yet issued a decision support letter. These two parties also sent out signs that they would join the ranks of Prabowo Subianto’s supporters.

Now, PKS has chosen to focus more on communicating options with political parties in KIM.
