Surya Paloh Confirms NasDem Postpones Proposing Nations In Jakarta Gubernatorial Election

President of the NasDem Party Surya Paloh ensure that his party cancels the nomination Ann Baswedan as a candidate for governor of Jakarta in Simultaneous regional elections 2024.

This was expressed by Paloh that he had to meet the President of Gerindra who is also the President-elect Prabowo Subianto in Kertanegara, South Jakarta, on Thursday (15/8).

“I have told Mr. Anies, Mr. Anies, as your younger brother, that this is not your time to run for the Jakarta Regional Election, we are looking for a more suitable move,” said Paloh.

Paloh met with Prabowo for about two hours. Paloh was accompanied by NasDem politician Viktor Laiskodat. Besides, the Chairman of Daily DPP Gerindra, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, was also present.

NasDem opens the possibility to join the Indonesian Progressive Coalition (KIM), a coalition supporting Prabowo-Gibran, in Jakarta Pilkada 2024 KIM plans to name Ridwan Kamil as cagub.

NasDem signs of not supporting Anies appeared several weeks ago after NasDem General Treasurer Ahmad Sahroni said he was not sure Anies would be registered with the KPU.

NasDem has indeed said that it is ready to support Anies in the Jakarta Pilkada. However, this statement was only verbal, not yet in the form of a decision letter.

PKS also revealed that NasDem had not yet given an order of support to Anies in the Jakarta Pilkada by the date they gave on August 4.
