Lulzim Suleymani, 26, was one of seven survivors of the tragic accident that killed 45 passengers returning from Istanbul to northern Macedonia.

He told the media from the Pirogov Hospital in Sofia about the moment when the incident took place.

“The wheels of the bus burst and the fire started. There was a lot of smoke,” he was quoted as saying by DarikNews.bg
Suleimani recounts how he escaped by breaking one of the bus windows. “Like in the movies. I managed to escape, picked up the hammer on the bus, broke the window and went out. I was traveling with my fiancée and 6 other people,” he said in a video posted on youtube.com.
Today is a day of national mourning
Serbian Ambassador to Bulgaria Zeljko Jovic visited Lulisim Suleimani at the hospital. “Despite his injuries, he helped evacuate the passengers,” the official Twitter page of the Serbian embassy in Bulgaria said.

Suleimani is feeling well, and the embassy promises to visit him regularly.

The Serbian embassy expressed its sincere condolences and sympathy for the pain and grief of the families of those killed and injured in the tragic incident and wished a speedy recovery.
