Surviving Terror: Marion and Aristide’s Journey of Resilience and Hope

Six years later, they remain marked in their flesh and in their hearts. On October 31, 2017, Marion and Aristide discovered New York as a family. The weather was splendid, they had planned a long bike ride. At 3 p.m., their walk comes to an abrupt halt. A pick-up truck driver intentionally crashes into the bike path. Marion and Aristide have just been struck at random, victims of a terrorist attack.

Aristide regains consciousness moments after the attack, lying in his blood. Marion only wakes up two weeks later, in a hospital bed. When she regains consciousness, it’s a shock: she had to have both legs amputated. Then begins their long fight to rebuild themselves.

Marion and Aristide share their story and their testimony with us without a spirit of revenge but with humanity and courage.
