The National Council of Protected Areas (Conap) shared a story of resilience and hope, about a small animal that left its habitat that was being consumed by the flames of a forest fire.
It is a Possum or Tacuazín with the scientific name: Didelphis marsupialis. This creature was rescued in a forest in the Western Altiplano Regional Directorate, resulting from several active forest fires.
The institution highlights that after a delicate rescue process, the animal was taken to the rehabilitation center, where it received specialized medical care.” Thanks to the love and dedication of our veterinary team, the opossum was able to recover from its injuries and begin its path to freedom,” they noted.
Yesterday the opossum returned to its home in the wild.” With a heart full of hope, we release her into a safe and conducive environment for her wildlife, where she can enjoy the freedom she so deserves,” she describes.
They also emphasize that their story is a reminder of the beauty and importance of the wildlife that surrounds us. In a world where nature faces so many challenges, it is vital we come together to protect and conserve these precious creatures and the ecosystems they call home, they say.
“We are deeply grateful to everyone who made this wonderful journey of rescue, recovery and liberation possible. Together, we can make a difference and ensure a brighter future for all life on our planet,” they concluded.
