“Survival from Underground: A Congo Miner Rescue Video”

The pioneers of the communication sites shared a video showing the rescue of ten miners after they were trapped in a tunnel, due to a landslide in the Congo.

On Monday, the Congolese government announced that at least 20 people had died in a landslide in the east of the country.

Lieutenant Colonel Guillaume Ndjiki Kaiko said in a statement that the landslide occurred in Bulwa village in Masisi province on Sunday.

“As a result of this unfortunate incident, twenty of our compatriots lost their lives and others are still missing and are being sought,” Kaiko said.

According to Alphonse Muchesha Mihinganu, a local official, about 25 women with their children were washing clothes in a stream at the foot of the mountain when the landslide occurred, and some were buried under the rubble.

Violence has devastated eastern Congo as more than 120 armed groups struggle for power, land and natural resources, while some fight to protect their communities.
