Survey: Swiss want compulsory mask in transport – Switzerland

The flexibility in the face of the coronavirus goes too far for many people, according to a Comparis survey. Three quarters of the population approve the compulsory wearing of masks on public transport, a ban on demonstrations of more than 300 people and the maintenance of physical distance at 2 meters.

The representative survey was carried out by the MarketAgent Switzerland polling institute on behalf of comparis.ch. Nearly 1,000 people from all regions of Switzerland were interviewed in June, said the online comparator in a press release.

76% of those polled consider it rather important or very important to maintain the ban on gatherings of more than 300 people. All ages are of this opinion, above all those over 60, with an approval rate of 80%.

73% want to make it mandatory to wear a mask in public transport. An intergenerational gap is widening on this question: the over-60s say 82% yes to this measure. 68% of respondents under the age of 30 want this requirement.

The abandonment of the rule of 2 meters distance between people – recently reduced to 1.5 meters – is unanimously criticized in all regions: 74% of participants consider it rather important or very important to maintain the 2 meters in the current situation. (ats / Le Matin)
