This is shown by figures from a survey InFact has carried out on behalf of The online newspaper. The question is being asked after Queen Margrete II of Denmark chose to abdicate in her New Year’s speech.

The question to those asked is whether they think King Harald should remain king as long as he lives, or whether he should consider abdicating.

The answer is clear, 63.5 percent think he should sit until his death. 20.1 percent think he should consider abdicating, 16.4 percent say they don’t know.

The survey shows that men barely outnumber women in the proportion who believe the king should remain in office. It is also the oldest aged 65 or over and the 18–29 age group who are most positive that the king should remain on the throne.
