Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The results of a survey by the Indonesian Survey Circle (LSI) Denny JA show that the electability of presidential candidate Anies Baswedan has decreased after declaring himself paired with Muhaimin Iskandar alias Cak Imin as the vice presidential candidate.
LSI Director Adjie Alfaraby said Anies’ electability fell by 5.2 percent. Initially, Anies’ electability was at 19.7 in August to 14.5 percent in September.
“After choosing Cak Imin as vice presidential candidate, Anies’ electability actually decreased from August 19.7 percent down to 14.5 percent,” said Adjie in a press conference broadcast via the official LSI Denny JA YouTube channel, Monday (2/10/2023), as reported CNN Indonesia.
Adjie said there were two factors that caused Anies’ electability to drop as a pair with Cak Imin.
These two factors are the harsh criticism that Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) leveled at Anies after choosing Cak Imin and Cak Imin’s electability which tends to be lower than AHY.
“These harsh criticisms then circulated widely, so this also disrupted Mr Anies’ electability,” explained Adjie.
“Second, if we look at it personally, Cak Imin is less popular than AHY as vice presidential candidate,” he added.
The decline in Anies’ electability contrasts with the electability of Prabowo Subianto and Ganjar Pranowo which increased in September.
Prabowo experienced an increase in electability of 3.6 percent to 39.8 percent in September from 36.2 percent in August.
Meanwhile, Ganjar experienced an increase in electability of 2.1 percent to 37.9 percent in September from 35.8 percent in August.
The survey involved 1,200 respondents using a multi-stage random sampling method and data collection techniques through face-to-face interviews and using questionnaires.
The survey was conducted from September 4 to 12 with a margin of error of approximately 2.9 percent.
Meanwhile, the results of the Indonesian Political Indicators survey show that many Anies Baswedan voters in East Java (Jatim) still have weak political faith.
“In East Java, Anies Baswedan’s voters are 14 percent [total suara]41.8 percent said they were very or quite likely to change their choice. “Anies supporters fall into the category of voters whose political faith is still weak,” said Burhanuddin Muhtadi, Principal Researcher of Indicators in an online event, Sunday (1/10/2023).
Burhanuddin Muhtadi explained that those who said they had little chance of changing their choice in the survey were called strong voters.
