The results of a survey on the “couple’s bedroom” targeting men and women who are looking for marriage have been announced. The surprising ratio of those who “want to divide” and those who “don’t want to divide” has been revealed…

Do you want your husband and wife to have separate bedrooms? Don’t want to share?

Do you want to separate your husband’s bedroom? Or do you “don’t want to share”? IBJ (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo), which operates a network of matchmaking agencies, conducted an awareness survey regarding “diversifying views on marriage” among men and women looking for marriage. We have announced the results for “Couple’s Bedroom”.

“I have a bad sleeping position” “I want to improve the quality of my sleep”

The survey was conducted via internet research from July 24 to August 7, 2023, targeting men and women active on the company’s network. Valid responses were received from a total of 1,682 people (1,018 men and 664 women).

When all respondents were asked whether they would like to have separate bedrooms after marriage, 37.3% of men and 46.9% of women answered that they would like to have separate bedrooms.

Looking at the results by age group, it is clear that both men and women in their 20s had the highest number of respondents who said they would like to have separate bedrooms. It was found that 47.2% of men in their 20s and 53.8% of women in their 20s, more than half, would like to “separate bedrooms.”

When we asked men in their 20s why they wanted to separate their bedrooms, we received answers such as “Because I sleep poorly,” “Because I can’t sleep well,” and “Because I need time alone.” On the other hand, many women in their 20s said, “I want to improve the quality of my sleep,” “The rhythm of my life is different,” and “Because I work night shifts.”

Regarding this result, the company said, “The reason for this may be that the rhythm of work styles is different for the younger generation, where dual-income households are becoming more commonplace, and that with the increase in remote work, the time spent in the same space is increasing. “Huh?” he analyzed. “Maybe we need to talk about it before we move in together so we don’t put up with each other,” she commented.
