The ADFC asked parties and political groups about the current state of the bicycle infrastructure. And Fridays for Future calls in Darmstadt for the last bicycle demonstration before the local elections.
The Darmstadt-Dieburg district association of the General German Bicycle Club (ADFC) has initiated and evaluated a survey on bicycle traffic. 67 of the 110 parties and political groups questioned, which are applying for parliamentary seats in the municipalities of the Darmstadt-Dieburg district, took part in the online survey.
Only 20 of the 67 parties and groups surveyed rated the current state of the bicycle infrastructure in their municipality as good (five times) or satisfactory (15 times). The evaluation “sufficient” or “bad” was given 20 times each time. And the verdict was “very bad” four times. The assessment of the participants in the survey about the status quo of the transport infrastructure is “predominantly negative”, according to the 13-page report.
The ADFC also asked questions about the participation of citizens: inside, about bicycle parking facilities as well as about measures to increase bicycle traffic, on the subject of comfort and safety aspects. In addition, individual questions about the project were asked for each municipality. The evaluation of the survey can be requested from ADFC chairman Klaus Görgen at the email address [email protected].
On this Friday, March 12th, at 4.30 p.m. on Friedensplatz in Darmstadt, the last bicycle demonstration before the local elections, which is being organized by Fridays for Future, will begin. In the past few weeks, around 200 people took part in the cycling demonstrations in Darmstadt. Two days before the local elections, the activists want to appeal again to all citizens to include the issue of climate justice in their voting decision.
