Germany has the greatest need for innovation in education – this is how 53.5 percent of the participants in a survey commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Research see it. The areas of digital infrastructure and mobility follow in second and third place in the survey that the AFP news agency received on Wednesday. Here 40.2 percent and 33.7 percent respectively see a need to catch up.
Almost a third of those questioned would like more innovations in environmental protection or the social sector, a quarter in the areas of health and agriculture. When it comes to work, however, this only applies to a small minority of five percent.
The ministry commissioned the representative survey as part of its “Germany as a country of innovation” campaign. The polling institute Civey surveyed 2,500 adults between October 15 and 19.
When it comes to education, Germany is on the right track, “but we have to increase our efforts in the next few years,” said Research Minister Anja Karliczek (CDU). The level of education in schools must generally increase. “A good education is the basis for us to remain a country of innovation.”
