Surveillance cameras revealed it… Imprisonment and fine for a Saudi nurse who “assaulted 11 infants”

The Saudi Public Prosecution announced, on Monday, a harsh punishment, including “5 years in prison and a fine of 100,000 riyals ($27,000) for a hygienic practice that assaulted 11 infants.”

An official source in the Public Prosecution stated, according to what was reported by Al-Ekhbariya channel, saying, “The Public Prosecution Office ended with accusing a female citizen working as a health practitioner in the neonatal nursery department of assaulting 11 newborn children (infants).”

And by looking at the surveillance cameras of the infant nursery room, it was found that the aforementioned exercised her work with great force and violence on the body of one of the infants, without observing the medical controls and standards established towards newborns for such cases.

It was also monitored that she assaulted the face of an infant by beating her three times, thus exceeding the limits of her functional responsibilities and health tasks by committing a felony intentionally against newborn children who have no will and dispossessed her.

The investigation procedures revealed that the aforementioned had repeated the offenses (…) of which 11 infants were incriminated, justifying this by claiming work pressures.

She was stopped and the investigation procedures against her were completed, and she was referred to the competent court, and a preliminary judgment was issued against her convicting her of what was attributed to her and sentencing her to imprisonment for a period of 5 years and a fine of (100,000 riyals).

The source pointed out that the Public Prosecution Office appealed the verdict and demanded that the penalty be increased for the accused in view of the heinous crime she committed against infants who have lost their will, and that what she did is considered treason because she is entrusted with them and their lives and health by virtue of her job duties.
