Surveillance cameras caught a number of US Transportation Security Agency agents stealing passengers’ luggage at an airport.
The British newspaper “Daily Mail” reported that the incident occurred at Miami International Airport in California.
The thefts occurred, as surveillance cameras showed, while security personnel were supervising the inspection of passengers’ luggage.
The newspaper described what the cameras recorded as “shocking footage,” so how could those charged with maintaining security and travelers’ belongings steal them?
She said that a 33-year-old security officer and another 20-year-old worked together to steal money from travelers’ bags at a checkpoint at the airport on June 29.
The video was published by the District Attorney’s Office in Miami-Dade County, Florida.
The video shows one of the two security personnel fiddling with one of the bags, before walking away from it, then the second officer comes and pulls something out of it and puts it in his pocket.
It turns out that it was stolen money.
On July 6, the police arrested the two officers, in addition to a third employee at the same agency, on charges of stealing $600 from a traveler’s wallet that was placed in his bag.
Two of them admitted to committing what happened and the third refused to talk.
