Surprisingly, the missile fired by North Korea turned out to be a hypersonic missile

PYONGYANG – North Korea (North Korea) on Wednesday (29/9/2021) confirmed that the mysterious missile fired into the East Sea yesterday was hypersonic missile .

Pyongyang’s claim is surprising because so far only three countries are known to develop such superfast weapons, namely the United States (US), Russia and China.

“In the first test launch, defense scientists confirmed the flight maneuverability and stability of the missile,” wrote Rodong Sinmun and KCNA, outlet North Korean state-run news.

The two media reports said that Park Jeong-cheon, a high-ranking member of the politburo of the North’s ruling Workers’ Party of Korea Central Committee, monitored the test with defense officials.

The missile test took place Tuesday (28/9/2021), just as North Korea’s Ambassador to the United Nations Kim Song took the podium in the auditorium of the United Nations General Assembly to deliver a speech.

“As a result of the tests, all the intended technical indicators have met the design requirements,” the North’s state media reported.

South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff earlier confirmed the launch of an unidentified short-range projectile on Tuesday.
