It is not explained where the location of the gas station is and the exact reason why it does not serve the purchase of Pertalite for Thunder. However, it is possible that Thunder will not be served by the purchase of Pertalite because Suzuki’s flagship motorcycle has a fairly large fuel oil (BBM) tank.
Sales & Marketing 2W Department Head of PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales (SIS) Teuku Agha explained, Suzuki Thunder does have a large fuel tank to accommodate drivers who often travel long distances.
“In this era, the cc motorcycle was used for touring and long-distance travel,” said Agha to detikcom, Monday (8/8/2022).
According to him, gas station officers should not discriminate against Suzuki Thunder users. Moreover, the Suzuki Thunder’s large tank is not the result of a modification, but the official output of the manufacturer.
“It is better for gas station officers to be able to distinguish between modified motorbikes compared to standard from the factory. The Suzuki Thunder 125 has a large capacity tank because the motorbike is intended for long-distance travel. So there should be no discrimination against this type of motorbike,” said Agha.
Suzuki Thunder itself is one of the most popular manual clutch motorcycles in its era. The fuel tank reaches 15 liters. This is the largest fuel tank in its class.
For the 125 cc version, Suzuki Thunder is equipped with a 4 stroke engine, SOHC, 2 valves one cylinder 125 cc. Its power reaches 11.8 PS/9,000 rpm with a maximum torque of 9.4 Nm/7,500 rpm. While the 250 cc version comes with a 4 stroke engine, SOHC, TSCC, 249 cc powered by 22 horsepower/7,500 rpm with a maximum torque of 20.5 Nm/6,000 rpm.
Suzuki Thunder was popular in the era of the 2000s. This motorbike has existed in Indonesia since 2004, before being discontinued in 2015.
Meanwhile, Pertamina will indeed limit the purchase of Pertalite. For motorcycles, it is possible that motorbikes with engines of 250 cc and above are prohibited from buying Pertalite.
