The MV Agusta Reparto Corse team has signed long-time GP driver Bo Bendsneyder for the Supersport World Championship with immediate effect; Bahattin Sofuoglu takes a different path.
Bahattin Sofuoglu started his entire super sports career for the MV Agusta Reparto Corse team of Ticino Andrea Quadranti. In 59 starts, the Turk took one win and three third places, and he raced into the top 10 29 times.
Since Misano in June, Bahattin has only seen the checkered flag five times in twelve races and has never finished higher than 10th place. In the World Championship he is only in 13th place with 82 points, while teammate Marcel Schrötter is fifth overall and has collected 188 points.
“In Magny-Cours we agreed that Bahattin and MV Agusta would go their separate ways,” manager Kenan Sofuoglu told SPEEDWEEK.com. “They competed in the races in Italy together; Aragon were Bahattin’s last races for the team. The results were not that good, Bahattin and the team were not happy. We have agreed to reposition ourselves for 2025 and I have organized a Yamaha for Bahattin. This means he can try out a different motorcycle and the team can try out a different rider. That doesn’t change our good relationship, we parted amicably, no one holds any grudge against the other.”
Bahattin will ride in Estoril and Jerez with the Yamaha Thailand team, where he will replace the injured Anupab Sarmoon, who has broken his wrist. The Thais have the finest equipment from record world champions Ten Kate Racing, who will also support the Turks as best they can.
The place at MV Agusta will be taken over by long-time Moto2 rider Bo Bendsneyder (2 podium places), who separated from the Preicanos Racing team in mid-September after a strange scandal.
“I am very happy to start this new adventure with MV Agusta Reparto Corse,” said Bendsneyder about his move to the Supersport World Championship. «I would like to thank Andrea for his trust and for giving me the opportunity to take part in these two events. I’m ready and very motivated, I can’t wait to start working with the team and give my best in Estoril and Jerez.”
“The next two events will be a kind of dress rehearsal for winter preparation,” explained team boss Quadranti. «I am very happy to have Bo on our team for next year. I would like to thank Bahattin for the work he has done with us over these three years. We shared many exciting moments together and I wish him all the best for his future.”
