Surprising Results of the Comparison Between BMW M4 and Modified BMW 430d: Fuel Types Petrol and Diesel Compared

As car enthusiasts, we love competitions, and this time we have a showdown between two BMW models: one petrol, the other diesel. Who will come out victorious in this dispute with hundreds of horsepower and two different fuels?

Journalists from Carwow they took a last-generation BMW M4 and a first-generation BMW 430d and ran a series of tests to see which was faster. The BMW M4 has a 3.1-liter inline six-cylinder gasoline engine that develops 510 and 650 Nm of torque. All power goes to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The mass of this car is 1,804 kg.

Its opponent, a BMW 430d from 2015, but which is far from its stock form. Under the hood is a 3.0-litre inline-six diesel engine that has received a number of tweaks, bringing output to a total of 462PS and 1,017Nm. It also uses an eight-speed automatic transmission, and the total weight is 1,615 kg.

Duel between two BMWs. Does the diesel engine stand a chance?

The first event consisted of a series of races in a straight line, over 400 meters. Conditions were unfriendly for both cars as the surface was slippery from the rain.

Surprisingly, the diesel model emerged victorious, managing to marginally outclass the new BMW M4, crossing the finish line in 12.5 seconds, compared to the BMW M4’s 12.6 seconds. Things were a little different in the jump start race. Although the new M4 managed to beat the modified car, the difference was not that big.

The advantage of the diesel BMW is that, compared to an M4, it is much cheaper. According to Carwow, the total investment was around £33,000 (about €37,740).
