During Thursday’s QuakeCon at Home, Bethesda came up with an ever so small surprise for Quake fans. The developer has refurbished the 25-year-old game, and the new version is available now.

A press release explains that the “new” Quake offers a visual upgrade from the original game. In addition, support for up to 4K resolution, anti-aliasing and better light and sound effects are included in the package.

In terms of content, the new version features the original campaign, as well as the expansions The Scourge of Armagon, Dissolution of Eternity, Dimension of the Past and Dimension of the Machine. The latter is a brand new charge, developed by Wolfenstein developer MachineGames.

Both the campaign and the expansions can be experienced alone or with up to three friends, locally or online. A multiplayer section is also in place, with support for up to eight players across all platforms.

Those who own the original on either Steam or Bethesda.net can download the upgraded version for free, Bethesda reports. In addition to the PC, the Quake upgrade is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Game Pass for both PC and console and Nintendo Switch. Separate versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S are also coming soon, with 4K resolution and 120 frames per second.

A new Skyrim variant has also been announced.
