Two gyms, one in Rende and the other in Montalto Uffugo, which allowed access to customers despite the prohibitions imposed by anti-contagion regulations
COSENZA – The financiers suspended the exercise of the activity of 2 gyms, which, in violation of the anticovid provisions, remained open to the public, unduly allowing over 70 customers to train. During an initial service activity, a structure was identified in the municipality of Montalto Uffugo, which only apparently was closed and with off signs, but in reality it allowed the patrons to enter from the back and to practice physical activity in the weight room and fitness area. The constant presence of some cars parked outside the building, which alternated during the day, made the Fiamme Gialle suspicious, together with the fact that the main entrances of the sports center all had shutters down. At the end of a brief stalking, the Financiers entered the gym, with an area of over 400 square meters, catching the owner of the amateur sports association in the role of personal trainer, intent on following the training of customers who used the exercise equipment.
On the occasion of other control activities, the Fiamme Gialle noticed a woman who, in sports clothing and with a bag in tow, came out of a Rende gym open to the public. Upon entry of the military, the owner justified the opening of the premises with the need to prepare two athletes present and others who would have arrived on the same day, for a body building competition, sponsored by one of the main recognized sports organizations by CONI, without however providing suitable supporting documentation. Upon contacting the organizing body of the event, the latter denied the presence of prior communications from the sports structure, which, in reality, had limited itself to transmitting a list of participants in the sporting event only on the day following the start of the control of the financiers. The latest provisions of the law, more stringent than the previous ones, in fact provide for the possibility of training in the gym only for “competitive” athletes who have to participate in nationally important sports competitions. From the examination of some prospectuses present in the gym, the Fiamme Gialle have deduced the names, with respective signatures, of 68 “non-competitive” sportsmen, who, during the month of December 2020, had trained at the gym in question, violating the health provisions still in force. Overall, the 2 owners of the gyms have been reported to the Prefecture of Cosenza, against whom the sanction of the immediate suspension of the commercial license has also been adopted, and the violations committed by the 72 customers are currently being challenged. administrative penalties were imposed ranging from 400 to 1,000 euros. The services carried out by the Guardia di Finanza continue, in this particular period of health emergency, to ensure compliance with government provisions to limit the spread of Covid-19.
