Surprise Winner at BAFTA TV Awards: Eurovision Song Contest 2023 Takes Best Live Event Title

A surprise winner at the British Academy Television Awards ceremony on Sunday night. The BAFTA for best live event went to the broadcast of the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, the same weekend in which Joost Klein (26) was disqualified from the Eurovision Song Contest 2024.

Elizabeth Debicki and Lesley Manville, who played Princess Diana and Princess Margaret, did not win in best supporting actress. Salim Daw, who played Mohamed Al-Fayed in the series and was nominated for best supporting actor, also did not win an award.

Sarah Lancashire won the best actress category for her role as Sergeant Catherine Cawood in the British crime series A happy valley from BBC One. Timothy Spall won the award for best actor for his role as Peter Farquhar in the four-part series The Sixth Commandment. This series also won the award for best limited drama. In addition, Matthew Macpaden won the award for best supporting actor for his role as Tom Wambsgans in the hit film Success.
