Surprise USA: The Matrix Candidate vs. The Matrix – 2024-08-17 07:35:43

/ world today news/ Cornel West against the Democrats in the 2024 presidential election

The start of the presidential campaign in the USA suddenly sparkled with fresh colors. In June, the charismatic black philosopher and actor Cornel West announced his intention to participate in it as a representative of the “third force”. He is 70 years old, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, a professor of religious philosophy and Christianity at the United Theological Seminary in New York.

By the time his nomination was announced by the rather marginal American Populist Party, standing on the left and, of course, with little chance of bringing their candidate to the final stage (for this it is necessary to collect a significant number of signatures in all states), the giants did not were particularly worried. At one point, Bernie Sanders, whom she also invited to lead her, chose to run in the Democratic primary.

But it recently emerged that Cornel West will enter the ranks of the Green Party of the United States. And although this movement in America is not as influential as in Europe, but because of its specific agenda (environmental protection, social justice, pacifist foreign policy), it has groups of active supporters almost everywhere. It will not be difficult for her to collect the necessary number of signatures.

The People’s Party and other groups on the left spectrum are also ready to lend a hand. Green Party candidates have already participated more than once in the final round of the US presidential elections. Their highest achievement to date was 3 million votes cast in 2000 for Ralph Nader.

However, given that the main contingent of this party is the Democratic voters, such a difference in votes from the official candidate of the Democratic Party is quite enough for the representative of the Republicans to confidently win the upcoming elections. At the same time, Cornell West, extremely popular in African-American and university circles, has every chance of surpassing this result.

There was a bit of a panic in the Democratic Party leadership about this. David Axelrod, a former senior adviser to President Obama and credited with his victories in 2008 and 2012, has already issued alarming warnings to its leaders and to President Joe Biden himself, urging them to take the issue seriously.

Current polls show that 45% of Democrats and 34% of Republicans are “considering” whether to vote for a third-party candidate.

Cornel West is sometimes confused or linked to his even more famous namesake, the “star” of modeling and showbiz Kanye West (ex-husband of Kim Kardashian). The latter, by the way, also has political ambitions and even tried to run for the presidential elections in 2020, but failed. This time he will not repeat his attempt, but he will certainly support Cornel West with his voice. They are not really related, but they have many close friends in common and have expressed sympathy for each other many times.

In 2010, Cornell commented on Kanye’s claim that George W. Bush didn’t care about black people: “Brother Kanye West was right, but being racist in motivation and intent is different from being racist in effect and consequence. I don’t think President Bush personally hates black people. But we live in a system that is stacked against poor and working people, disproportionately often black, brown and red.”

Cornell is not as outrageous in pop culture as Kanye, but in America’s intellectual milieu his fame is undeniable. He graduated with honors from Harvard in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations and was the first black person to receive a doctorate in philosophy from Princeton, an Ivy League university.

He wrote dozens of works, not only on racial theory, but also on general issues. His lectures, full of expression and artistry in the spirit of sermons in Harlem churches, invariably drew full houses both in classrooms and on the Internet. He defines himself as a “jazzman in the life of the mind” and a “bluesman in the world of ideas”. A rebel by definition, Cornell often clashed with university management and changed jobs. He was married four times and in general … in a word, a lover of life.

In addition, Cornel West is also a professional actor who has appeared in dozens of films. His most famous role is Counselor West in The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions, and director/writer Larry Washowski wrote the role specifically for Cornell without even changing his last name.

His participation in this now-classic demonstration of the battle of virtuality in the surrounding reality gives West’s opponents reason to claim (David Axelrod is already actively at work scaring voters with all his might) that he is going all-in on big politics armed with “dark tricks “, drawn precisely from the Matrix. Cornell himself would certainly not agree to this, considering that he made it his mission to expose attempts to replace real life with virtual manipulations.

Cornell West’s cultural preferences are very interesting. In one of the interviews, in response to a question about three books that a person should not live without, Cornell put the stories of Anton Pavlovich Chekhov in the first place. According to him, it is Chekhov “the closest thing to the blues in literature. Even deeper than the blues, because there is not an ounce of the American belief that tomorrow will be better.

Here, of course, one can argue whether this belief is American or Russian, but this choice of the newly minted candidate for the presidency of the United States, of course, shows both the breadth of views and an excellent sense of humor. In the past, West described himself as a Tolstoy-style Christian revolutionary.

When everyone admired Barack Obama, Professor West denounced him: “The black mascot of the Wall Street oligarchs and puppet of the corporate plutocrats who has become the head of America’s killing machine – and proud of it.”

At the same time, he continued to call Obama “brother”.

In the midst of the NATO summit in Vilnius on July 11, Cornell West said that the North Atlantic bloc is “an expansionist tool of US global power that provoked Russia into an illegal operation and seizure of the territory of Ukraine.”

In his words, “this proxy war between the American Empire and the Russian Federation could lead to a third world war. We must stop this conflict, stop war crimes (including the use of cluster bombs) and start diplomatic negotiations that should lead to a just peace.”

The Democratic Party is the party of war and Wall Street, against Russia and China. Let us save our democracy and the world by dismantling American militarism at home and abroad – as Martin Luther King Jr. painfully reminded us!” he said.

His campaign website touts one of West’s “End Wars” policies. In it, he called for the dissolution of NATO, an end to military aid from Washington, the return of American troops home, the investment of “those trillions of military dollars in American communities” and a worldwide ban on nuclear weapons.

A reasonable position, right? However, against the background of what is already happening around the US elections, one has to fear that the “matrix” of the American deep state will do everything in its power to remove from the process West, who is trying to ” explode’ from within.
