Surprise man Sebastian Stalder wins the Martin Fourcade Nordic Festival – Sports Infos – Ski

Sebastian Stalder, the surprise guest

After the double victory of Simon, Braisaz-Bouchet in the women’s race and in view of the start list, the public and all television viewers expected a triumph for the tricolore in the men’s race.

A man, Emilien Jacquelin, was the big favorite from the first minute. With his tremendous power and his lightness on the skis, he started alone from the first loop.

The two-time world pursuit champion goes into his first shooting with a big lead, but he loses everything because he is not precise enough and even has to wait 20 seconds for the pit stop.

For three laps, Emilien Jacquelin was unleashed and took apart the competition on the track before he was sent back onto the track due to an inaccuracy.

However, with his last, much better shot, he was able to work his way up to second place, just 15 seconds behind surprise guest Sebastian Stalder, but this time Jacquelin did not have enough strength to catch up again.

The Swiss, who still hadn’t had enough, didn’t let himself be discouraged and, to everyone’s surprise, was the one who was able to enter his name on the winners’ list, 8 seconds ahead of the Dauphinois and 17 seconds ahead of Eric Perrot.

Stalder, who is an excellent shooter in both winter and summer, left Quentin Fillon Maillet in fourth place, 33 seconds behind, and Jakov Fak in fifth place, 37 seconds behind.

Fabien Claude finished 6th, 1min35 behind, ahead of Johannes Kuehn and the Norwegian Filip Andersen, who is no longer part of the national team.
