Huawei Technologies Co. On Friday, the company added a new top model to its Mate 60 smartphone family with the launch of the Mate 60 Pro+ in mainland China. Bloomberg reports this.
It is noted that for the US Department of Commerce, which initiated most of the sanctions imposed on Huawei, the appearance of a new smartphone was a complete surprise. The corporation introduced the flagship Mate 60 Pro just at the moment when the United States Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo was in Beijing.
The Mate 60 Pro went on sale suddenly, without any marketing support, the material says. Now the Ministry of Trade will have to conduct an investigation into how Huawei, firstly, was able to circumvent the sanctions and, secondly, find modern seven-nanometer processors for its new phone.
The release of the Mate 60 Pro caused a wave of “nationalist sentiments in Chinese social networks,” the agency notes, and local media presented Huawei’s achievements as a victory for the Chinese corporation over sanctions.
