Jakarta

Electric car battery prices it is still one of the factors that makes the price of electrified vehicles still very high. It can be noted that the range of electric cars sold in Indonesia have an average price tag of more than 500 million rupees.

There is currently only one that is sold cheaper in the Rp range. 200-300 million, namely the Wuling Air Ev. The high price of electric cars is mostly influenced by the battery which is the power source.

It is said that the price of an electric car battery is even half the price of the car itself. But how much do electric car batteries cost?

As an example, the Toyota bZ4X, priced at IDR 1.19 billion, costs IDR 540 million for the battery.

“The bZ4X is roughly half the price of the car, Rp. 540 million,” explained a source detikOto.

Even though the price of the battery is quite high, consumers need not worry as Toyota offers a warranty of up to 8 years or 160,000km (whichever comes first). The warranty applies to replacement or damage. This warranty claim can be submitted by consumers through the Toyota dealer network throughout Indonesia.

“Yes, you don’t have to worry. Because we have actually extended the battery warranty, both the BZ4X from 5 years to 8 years. So for 8 years, if there are any problems, defects, etc. from the battery, we will definitely replace it,” he said PT Toyota Astra Marketing Director Anton Jimmi Suwandy. PT Toyota’s bike has been confirmed separately.

For your information, Toyota’s first electric car adopts a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 71.4 kWh, which has a range of up to 500 km without producing emissions.

The resulting power reaches 204PS and 266Nm of torque to create acceleration from 0-100km/h in 8.3 seconds and average acceleration from 48-90km/h in 2.9 seconds. The battery has adopted a water cooling system as the engine radiator.

The battery system uses refrigerant and helps maintain constant output as each cell is individually cooled. This system is linked to the vehicle’s air conditioning system, so there is an energy-saving coordination between the battery and the cabin climate control.

To charge 80% can be achieved in about 30 minutes with a 150 kW fast charging system. Meanwhile, fully charging using a 230V/32A power supply will take approximately 9.5 hours.
