Breaking: A new Call of Duty game will be released this fall. But from which developer?
Activision has confirmed that a new Call of Duty game will be released in 2021. The game is scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of this year.
“We will benefit from a full year of Warzone, which will enable upgrades to our premium content and incremental investment in players, and we have the substantial opportunity to further move Black Ops Cold War community, in addition to a strong premium release in Q4 2021”, chief financial officer Dennis Durkin said at an investor meeting (via Eurogamer).
Durkin also indicates that the number of ‘Call of Duty premium copies’ sold is probably lower compared to the previous financial year. Nevertheless, Activision expects revenue from the franchise to grow in part thanks to the success of Call of Duty Mobile in China.
It is not yet officially known which developer will release a new Call of Duty title at the end of this year. A new part of Sledgehammer Games, which reportedly first worked on the game that eventually became Black Ops Cold War, or Infinity Ward are obvious.
