The status of Jerusalem is controversial, which is why the vast majority of countries have their embassy in the city of Tel Aviv. Only four countries have embassies in Jerusalem: the US, Honduras, Guatemala and Kosovo.
Israel has occupied the eastern part of Jerusalem and considers the entire city Israeli territory. But the Palestinians see East Jerusalem as the capital of the future Palestinian state.
