Suriname recently participated in the New York travel and adventure fair. The Surinamese Ministry of Transport, Communication and Tourism, in the persons of Minister A. Jubitana and Director R. Buddha supported by the UN mission led by Ambassador Sitaldin, SHATA and private companies have started to make the American market aware of what Suriname has to offer.
“Corona has had serious consequences for the entire tourist field. The stock market is significantly smaller compared to the previous years before the pandemic. But we still have the interest of the American tourist,” according to the organization that was there from March 18 to 20, 2022 and further says:
The first day was the day before the media exposure. Although Surinam Airways already maintained flights, with the arrival of American Airlines, which now also plays an important role for the connectivity between Suriname and the United States of America. The American Airlines brand is a trusted brand for the average American.
Days two and three were for the consumers. The tasting of Fernandes snacks and Borgoe rum always attracts the attention of visitors to the fair. So the interest is there, we just have to keep informing this market about Suriname and the possibilities to also celebrate their holiday in Suriname. We have to invest a lot in burning Suriname with American tourists. The first step was made by participating in the Travel and Adventure fair of New York, we must ensure with all actors that we continue to promote the awareness of Suriname.
The United States is large and vast, promotion in this market must be tackled in several cities. Contacts have been made with the media, writers, vloggers, bloggers and marketing consultants, but it is first necessary to evaluate where we want to go and how we want to get there.
