Busy on the water
“It is very busy in some places on the water”, says a spokesman for the Forestry Commission. “At the Biesbosch it has been busy for months and at the Weerribben there are traffic jams.”
In the spring, therefore, some parts of the Biesbosch were built locked. Because it was breeding season, the Forestry Commission decided to lock parts. “The waves are bad for birds’ nests.”
A lot of water sports is done, especially on the somewhat larger lakes. The local rules are indicated by means of signs and buoys. “If people stick to that, it should be fine.”
