Sûreté du Québec Police Officers Demand Faster Contract Negotiations Amid Pressure Tactics: Updates on Red Caps and Summer Blitz

The 5,700 police officers of the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) are stepping up their pressure tactics and urging the government to speed up negotiations for the renewal of their employment contract.

Police officers will wear red caps starting Tuesday, at the request of the Association of Quebec Provincial Police Officers (APPQ). We are asking to arrive at a blitz before the summer period, mentions Jacques Painchaud, president of the association.

The next few weeks will be crucial, according to him. The coming summer represents a critical period for police personnel. Should we remember that in recent years, Quebec has faced significant spring floods and forest fires of unprecedented magnitude? It is all the more important to speed up the negotiation process, insisted Jacques Painchaud.
