Garudan is the latest film directed by debutant Arun Varma starring Suresh Gopi and Biju Menon. Mithun Manuel Thomas is writing the screenplay of the film. The film will hit theaters in November.
Now, in the press meet related to the movie ‘Garudan’, Suresh Gopi’s words about Pan Indian movies are gaining attention. Suresh Gopi says that there were Pan Indian films in the Tamil film industry till the early eighties and even the films of Mammootty and Mohanlal did not reach the Pan Indian level then.
“Malayalam has limited money to spend. We have had it all along. Kamal Haasan’s first film Vikram was released in 1984. Lizzy and Ambika from Malayalam have also acted in it. It came out as Anna pan Indian movie. None of Mammooka’s and Lal’s films have reached that level.
Chiranjeevi’s films ‘A Hero’ and ‘Itanda Police’ were pan-Indian films. Those are dubbed movies. Even at that time the films of top stars here were not made to that standard. Malayalam cinema is a limited market. It has a few more possibilities. Manufacturers are trying to use it. Not KGF, but the film for his father will come from Malayalam.” Suresh Gopi said in the press meet.
Garudaan will hit the theaters in November. Garudan also stars Siddique, Dileesh Pothan, Jagadish, Abhirami, Divya Pillai, Thalaivasal Vijay, Arjun Nandakumar, Major Ravi, Balaji Sharma, Santhosh Keeshatur, Ranjith Kangol, Jayce Jose, Malavika, Josukutty and Chaitanya Prakash.
The film is produced by Lisitan Stephen under the banner of Magic Frames. Shooting was completed in Kochi and Hyderabad. The cinematography of the film is done by Ajay David Kachapalli.
