Kochi:Suresh Gopi has announced Rs 10 lakh assistance for transgender community for gender reassignment surgery. It will be given from the foundation named after his daughter Lakshmi who died in a car accident.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the program ‘Keralapiravi Transgenders’ organized by the Prachika Foundation, a socio-cultural organization in Mumbai.
“Transgenders have submitted many petitions. It no longer has the capacity to solve them on its own. But let’s provide an opportunity to present all of them before Union Minister Smriti Irani” said Suresh Gopi.
Prakiya Foundation Chairman K.B. Uttam Kumar, Transgender Activist Guest, BJP State committee members C.G. Rajagopal, P.S. Sivashankar, Chevalier KV. John, Parthen K. Pillai Nashik, Sujith Bharat Thrissur, T.R. Devan, M.P. Biju and others and the crew of ‘Garudan’ movie attended the function.
Suresh Gopi to media: ‘No body touching…’
Kochi:Suresh Gopi dodged questions from the media. Saying ‘No body touching, please keep away from me…’ he hurriedly walked in front of the channel mics. Suresh Gopi had come to celebrate the birth of transgenders in Kerala.
The police came during Suresh Gopi’s event and it was rumored that they came because of a bomb threatspread out
Kochi: There was a panic after the police arrived at the ‘Keralapiravi with Transgenders’ program attended by actor Suresh Gopi. A rumor also spread that the police had come due to a bomb threat. The explanation of the police is that after the explosion in Kalamassery, it was only a check on events with large crowds.
One of the organizers informed Suresh Gopi that the police had arrived during his speech. Then Suresh Gopi stopped his speech and went to rest room. With this, the news of a bomb threat spread and the audience panicked. Transgenders created a ruckus, alleging that it was a deliberate attempt by someone to disrupt the event. After the police returned, the program continued.
Suresh Gopi, who returned, said that the police were doing their work and should not be disturbed. He clarified that he stopped the speech and returned as per the request of the police. The Central Police said that no bomb threat had been received.
