Surati Kapolri, ICW asks Firli Bahuri to be withdrawn from the KPK

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV – The Anti-Corruption Civil Society Coalition sent a letter to the Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Kapolri), General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Tuesday (25/5/2021).

In the letter, they asked General Listyo Sigit to dismiss Firli Bahuri as a member of the National Police, and at the same time remove him from his position as Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

This letter to the National Police Chief was given directly and received by the General Secretary of the Police Headquarters.

“On this day, the Anti-Corruption Civil Society Coalition, represented by Indonesia Corruption Watch, sent a letter to the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo requesting the withdrawal or dismissal of Police Commissioner General Firli Bahuri as a member of the Police,” said ICW representative Kurnia Ramadhana.

ICW assessed that there were several cases of code of ethics violations committed by KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri, one of which was defiance against President Joko Widodo regarding the status of 75 KPK employees who did not pass the national insight test (TWK).

“There are indications of defiance of orders from the President. There are two reasons related to disobedience to the President’s orders. The first is the consequence of the KPK Law, that the KPK is included in the executive power group so that in an administrative context it must submit to the President’s orders,” continued Kurnia.
