The Candidate Pair for Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Surabaya, Machfud Arifin – Mujiaman Sukirmo, officially registered with the General Election Commission (KPU) as a participant in the 2020 Surabaya City Election.
After registering, the volunteers then put on the Sawunggaling Clothes. The clothes were referred to as the royal clothes of the Duke, or the leader of Surabaya in the past.
“Sawunggaling’s clothes were handed over as a symbol, that Sawunggaling is a duke who is currently known as the Mayor of Surabaya,” said Miratul Mukminin (Gus Amik), Chairman of the Machfud-Mujiaman Winning Team, Sunday (6/9).
Gus Amik said the clothes were symbols of heroes who were honest, brave and brave. A leader who has such characteristics is what Surabaya needs. Apart from wearing Sawunggaling’s clothes, Mahfud-Mujiaman also carried a rooster.
“This is a symbol, a hero who is honest, brave and brave, so in Surabaya a leader who has honesty and courage is needed, this is in the figures of Mr. Machfud and Mr. Mujiaman who aspire to change Surabaya,” he said.
Furthermore, Gus Amik said the registration and nomination documents for Machfud-Mujiaman had been submitted to the Surabaya KPU. He said the candidate pair was also ready to follow the next stage.
“The registration process for Pak Machfud and Pak Mujiaman, thank God, all the requirements have been accepted by the KPU and we will follow the next stage, namely the health test from 7 to 8 September tomorrow,” he said.
Unfortunately, after registering, both Machfud- and Mujiaman refused to give any comments to the media.
Machfud Arifin is a retired high-ranking National Police officer who previously served as Head of the East Java Regional Police (Kapolda Jatim).
Meanwhile, Mujiaman Sukirmo, is the former President Director of the BUMD Surya Sembada Regional Drinking Water Company (PDAM), Surabaya.
Machfud and Mujiaman currently have the support of the eight supporting parties. Among others are Democrats, PKB, PAN, PPP, NasDem, Golkar, Gerindra, PKS.
