Manchester City has qualified for the semi-finals of the FA Cup without any problems. In the quarterfinals coach Pep Guardiola’s team simply settled with Newcastle United: 0-2.
The game was a repeat of the 1955 cup final. At the time, Newcastle was victorious 3-1, winning the FA Cup for the sixth and final time.
There was no such a result this time. Newcastle withdrew in their own half and let City attack to their heart’s content. The reigning cup holder was lord and master, but before half-time only Kevin De Bruyne scored. He took advantage of a penalty kick after Fabian Schär pushed striker Gabriel Jesus over the top.
